A reliable injection mould project starts before steel is cut. At YIOT MOULD, project information is reviewed against the product design, material, appearance, production volume and quality requirements so that important manufacturing risks can be discussed early.
1. Project information review
The initial review normally begins with the available 3D model, 2D drawing, material specification, surface finish, annual volume and target schedule. When some information is not yet available, the project team identifies the missing items before the mould route is confirmed.
2. DFM and mould concept
Design for Manufacturability, commonly called DFM, connects the customer design with the proposed mould and moulding process. The review may cover parting lines, draft, wall thickness, undercuts, gate position, ejection, critical dimensions, cavity planning and injection machine fit.
The exact review scope depends on the part. Complex products may require slides, lifters, hot runner components or other project specific mould solutions.
3. Mould design and construction
After the mould concept and required project information are approved, the work moves into mould engineering and construction. CNC machining, EDM, wire EDM, component preparation, fitting and assembly are coordinated according to the approved design.
4. T0 trial and sample review
T0 is the first mould trial. Samples are reviewed against the approved requirements, including relevant appearance, dimensional, functional and assembly expectations. Required corrections are documented before the next trial and customer sample confirmation.
5. Production release
Mass production begins after the required sample and project conditions are approved. Process control, inspection, finishing, assembly and packing requirements are then followed according to the customer program.
